DIY Polka Dot Balloons

What kids birthday party doesn’t involve balloons? Give basic balloons a chic, homemade touch by turning them into festive décor items and adorning them with polka dots.

If your party’s theme happens to be inspired by polka dots, guests will love being greeted with these creative DIY balloons as soon as they step through the door!

It's such a fun and simple craft, and adds a creative touch to any party. If you have any older kids as helpers, they will love helping you style and design your big balloons with some colorful circles. I used pre-cut fabric circles, because they looked the smoothest on the surface of the balloons. But you can also cut out your own from card stock or felt paper. Just be careful with the crazy glue!

Supplies
  • Balloon
  • Small polka-dot felt fabric circles (I found mine pre-cut from Shop Sweet Lulu!)
  • Crazy Glue
  • String
Directions

Step 1: Fill balloons up with helium.

Step 2: Right before party (and while helium is still strongest) adhere circular felt pieces to balloon using crazy glue.

Step 3: If you haven't already done so, make sure balloons are tied with a piece of string and secure to a chair, doorknob, front door. You can even dangle fun string or tassel garland from the balloon for an added creative touch!
