Potluck Party Decorations

While the guests bring the dishes to a potluck party, hosts are the ones who will create the cohesive décor scheme.

Rather than go crazy with too much fuss or expensive party ware, consider carrying the color scheme and theme of your invitation into your dinner party. It’s always an easy way to spruce up your décor and keep things looking consistent.

For our potluck party, I worked in the green, orange and aqua hues from our party invitation. From little party flags to the buffet menu cards to the party favors, the colors were helpful in coordinating the entire party’s scheme.

The extra folded cards we had from Pear Tree were a last-minute addition to our centerpieces. They added a bright pop to the white Gerbera daisies and an-indoor picnic feel to the table.

For table runners, we used 12-inch square sheets of designer paper in colors that coordinated perfectly with our theme. Paper is always a great way to get the colors you want on your table, and it's inexpensive to boot!

Potluck guests had a grand time looking through vintage cookbooks that we displayed on several of the tables. We heard lots of good stories about "gramma's cooking!” Not only was this nostalgic and fun, but it brought home the idea of a potluck meal.

Potluck-style means casual, friendly and simple. While you, and everyone else, contribute to the dinner, you also serve yourself. We found an easy way for guests to manage their utensils and napkins while carrying their plates of good food.

We slipped the napkin and utensils inside a glassine bag, allowing guests to pick up everything they needed in one sweet little package.

The green, orange and aqua colored napkins continued our color theme across the tables, as did the stickers on the front from Pear Tree.
