DIY Potted Herb Gift for the Holidays

For the holidays, gift-giving can be daunting and costly. This year, opt to go for fresh herbs wrapped in tartan fabric and tied with rope or twine to give something practical, eco-friendly, and fun!

I like to mix and match fabrics to match the kind of herb it is, or to coordinate for some holiday cheer. You could also get fun paper from a local craft store and wrap the containers using double-sided tape.

These gifts are perfect for anyone in your life who loves to cook and bake with fresh herbs, or who enjoys some greenery in their kitchen. For a sweet added bonus, find a creative recipe that incorporates each herb, and attach it to the plant!

Supplies
  • Variety of seasonal herbs
  • Tartan fabric (1 yard per 3 plants)
  • Twine, rope, or ribbon
  • Zig-zag scissors
  • Shipping tags with string
Directions

Step 1: Measure the fabric around the plant, and then cut the fabric leaving an inch extra, using the scissors.

Step 2: Fold up around the plants and secure with the rope.

Step 3: Write what the herb is on the shipping tag, and a sweet message. Include a recipe to make using the herbs as an extra bonus!
