Professional Hockey Team Makes Boy, 11, Ridiculously Happy with Birthday Surprise

An 11-year-old boy named Colin declined his family's plans to throw him a birthday party, because he said he had no friends. And while his mom created a secret Facebook page (that went viral) for strangers to wish him a happy birthday, he also got a birthday surprise from some unexpected fans.

Colin's Facebook page, Happy Birthday Colin, has already received 2.1 million "likes," and the family was featured on Good Morning America. But on March 18, he received another birthday surprise from a professional hockey team, the Kalamazoo Wings.

Players, coaches and reps from the team met Colin and his family at a local pizza restaurant, where they surprised Colin and shared a meal with him. They also offered him a one-day contract to play with the team. As part of his contract, Colin will get his own jersey, drop the puck at the beginning of the game and sit with the players on the bench.

"I was not expecting this," he told MLive.com. "I knew we were going to the restaurant, but I was not expecting the rest."

We're celebrating Colin for finally having a birthday he always dreamed of, and for the Kalamazoo Wings for giving him yet another birthday surprise! #MakeToday ridiculously happy!
