Professional Party Clean-Up Tips For The Average Host

Being a host is never an easy, stress free task. When you are hosting a party, it's smart to plan the details pre-party in order to minimize clean up. There are a few easy ways you can prepare ahead of time from how you cook to what you will serve. Little, easy changes to your prep-work will make a big difference! Here are a few tips to help you get started.

Prep your kitchen

To prevent messy dishes and a long night of your elbows covered in grease, line all of your bakeware with parchment paper or tin foil. You will still have to wash your dishes of course, but it will cut your clean up time so you spend less time scrubbing.

Additionally, serving a signature cocktail will cut down on the number of glasses you will need for your party, which mean less to clean up later!

Be on the look out for party fouls

We always hope that people will be respectful in our homes, but after a few glasses of wine, there might be a few spills or dropped dishes. To hit stains head on, you have to treat them as they happen. The best thing to do is to keep a bottle of cleaning solution handy so you can tackle those party fouls before they ruin your furniture or carpet.

Here's a little trick, if someone spills red wine don't panic! Try pouring some white wine over the spill immediately to neutralize it and to help pull out the stain later.

Survey the scene

Once the party is over, have a quick glance over the house or party area. Take care of the big messes and spills (hopefully you won't have many) before heading to the kitchen to clean up your dishes. It's important to tackle the big stuff first so you don't leave any permanant damage or stains in your home. The kitchen can wait!
