Five Household Items to Re-Purpose for a Stunning Summer Party Table

Getting ready for a start-of-summer barbecue can be fun and exciting, but it can also be exhausting and overwhelming. Not to mention expensive.

After buying all of the food and drinks, it's daunting to think about buying lots of pieces of party decor, too. Instead of splurging at the local entertaining store, look around your house. You can give unused and unloved items a totally makeover, and upcycle them for party decor. These unique pieces will make for a stunning and well thought-out party table.

1.Fill your candle votives with succulents or small potted flowers. Small plants look chic and elegant when placed in candle votives. The contrast of the pretty green color of succulents and the bright metallic of the votive make for a perfect summery display.

2.Turn your unused fish bowl into a centerpiece. Fill it with bulbs, succulents or use it again as a fish bowl with some bright colored fish. (Bonus: New pets for your kids!)

3.Glue clothespins and old toys together to create fun place card holders. These can be anything on theme with your party. Old GI Joes work perfectly for the Fourth of July.

4.Spray paint tin cans and use as vases. Old coffee cans are the perfect outdoor table accessory, especially after being jazzed up with some spray paint. Go the extra step of drilling holes in them and using them as party lanterns.

5.Turn an old shower curtain or window dressing into a table runner. Buying party-specific table runners can get pretty pricey. Use something you already have on hand for an easy display that will save you tons of time and money.
