Set a Romantic Table with Homemade Valentine's Day Decorations

For a different approach to homemade Valentine’s Day decor, look to colors other than the traditional reds and pinks to inspire your decorations.

I set up an eclectic and modern Valentine's Day table setting in wintery, neutral tones. Taking a DIY approach to my decorations for Valentine's Day allowed me to customize the look and feel of my spread, so I highly recommend adding a crafty touch to your look!

Start off by adding DIY heart art in a grouping on the wall. You can make a big impact for very little cost by using items you probably already own to make homemade Valentine's Day decor. Materials like white lace, gray yarn, and natural burlap can give you a variety of texture while keeping the colors neutral.

Then, set the tone for your table with a DIY hugs and kisses tableclothUsing large handmade X and O stamps, you can turn a standard tablecloth into a modern, graphic backdrop for your dishes and centerpiece. Glittery silver fabric paint contrasts the white fabric enough for a pattern that is noticeable without overpowering the table.

Why not go all out for your centerpiece?  We are celebrating here, people!

Take your centerpiece up off the table by layering some repurposed books as a table runner. Spray paint them in solid shades of black, metallic gold, and white for a modern take, then stack and stagger them down the center of the table for an eclectic feel.

Then, add in some cupid’s arrows to your Valentine's Day centerpiece. You can make these trendy pieces with carved, whitewashed twigs, stripes painted in black, white, and metallic gold, and feathers tied on with string. Placed in clear glass vases, these are a modern alternative to floral arrangements and an unexpected take on Valentine’s Day.

Finally, make a real statement with a Valentine's Day hearts and branches centerpieceStart with large branches arranged in a tall vase, painted silver to coordinate with the stamped tablecloth.

Then hang little hearts from the branches made from all different materials. Items like a textured mat painted gold, black fabric, and newspaper add to the eclectic and modern style. The black and white text nods to the repurposed book table runner to bring the look full circle.

Use gold or black chargers to offset simple white dishes. Tea lights in glass votives complete the romantic setting.

You are ready for a stylish dinner party or a romantic evening at home!
