Shore-Inspired Thanksgiving Table Decorations

Host a shore-inspired Thanksgiving with these simple decoration tips!

While many of us associate Thanksgiving with crisp cold air, berried branches, turning foliage, and chrysanthemums, not everyone has to go over the river and through the woods to get to grandmother's house. Some just take a barefoot stroll along the beach, perhaps collecting a few shells along the way.

If I were spending the holiday at my place in Florida here is how I would like my table to look. Not only is it coastal inspired but also it is a cleaner, less cluttered and simpler look. This also matches our lifestyle down there which is completely opposite from our hectic, full, fast-paced life in New York.

We used a few common beach accents and tied them in with a neutral scheme to give a light and relaxing feel to the room. If the beach is easily accesibl to you, you have the luxury of heading to the shore for your decor. We recommend filling a few glass jars of varying sizes with sand and small shells. Or, for an easy centerpiece, you can do the same with a large glass bowl.

Use found objects as well as treasured keepsakes to create the look you want. Keeping the colors soft and using monochromatic single variety flowers will provide a sense of calm.

We used shells instead of the traditional glass vases to tie the theme together. If you can't collect them form the beach, head over to your local craft store. They're sure to have a collection of shells in every shape, size, and color.

Write each guest's name on a sand dollar and tuck a single cymbidium orchid behind it for a chic place setting.

Serve drinks in mason jars instead of glasses for a convenient and trendy option. Tie a light colored ribbon on the jar for an easy and chic accent!

And even though you want to keep your decorations shore inspired, you should still be sure to have  few holiday staples incorporated into your decor. If you're feeling creative, see if you can think of ways to throw a few discreet Thanksgiving icons into the mix like inviting the kids to use found seashells to make turkeys! Or, you can opt to just serve the traditional drinks and just dress up the serving up (or mason jar!). Tie a tiny seashell or bag of sand to the top for cute presentation.
