  • cupcakes
  • chocolate frosting
  • disposable decorating bag
  • size “12” decorating tip
  • rubber band
  • black sprinkles
  • black licorice lace
  • scissors

*Find the decorating bag, decorating tip and sprinkles in the craft store. Find licorice lace in specialty candy stores or online.

Step 1: Pour black sprinkles into a bowl and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare your favorite cupcakes according to the recipe and let cool completely.

Step 3: Prepare chocolate frosting according to your favorite recipe, or, use store-bought frosting. (TIP: To thicken store-bought frosting so it’s easier to pipe, stir in confectioner’s sugar until the desired consistency is reached.) Fit a decorating bag with the tip, fill with frosting, and close tightly with a rubber band.

Step 4: Working with one cupcake at a time, pipe a swirl of frosting to cover the top of the cupcake, and immediately overturn and dip the frosting in the sprinkles so the frosting is completely coated. Repeat with all of the cupcakes.

Step 5: Cut pieces of licorice about 4-inches long, eight for each cupcake. Gently insert the legs into the cupcakes.
