Simple & Stylish Autumn Decorating Ideas

Use your entryway table or console to celebrate Fall with a foyer that welcomes guests to your home in seasonal style.

I came up with two stylish looks to decorate my foyer for fall - the first is a playful and sweet way to transition your home from the summer into fall, while the second is accented with deeper hues and more autumnal decor for later in the season.

Make your entryway come alive with a little unexpected color as you bring your home from the summer season into autumn. Here, I teamed bright orange pumpkins with a brilliant shade of turquoise.

I used various decorative accessories from my home to flank the pumpkin on the entry console. A turquoise tassel seemed like just the right touch for the pumpkin, and added a bit of whimsy.

To add interest to your entryway tablescape, consider using pedestals or decorative plates. My glass cupcake cloche served as the perfect showcase for a miniature pumpkin.

And then, for a fun contrast with the formal look of the glass pedestal,  I arranged a few sparkly mini craft pumpkins in a little turquoise metal tub and placed them close by.

Finishing touches like family photos and a monogrammed letter are a simple, yet stated way to personalize your foyer.

As the early autumn grows late, replace your brighter decor with more muted hues that make way for the holiday season.

A decorative ceramic pumpkin was the focal point for this second entryway table. I centered it on the table and then used it as my color inspiration to add other festive fall accessories to the table.

Large glass jars are a current decorating trend. The contents can be changed with the season. This glass jar full of mini pumpkins looks great on the entryway table.

Candle holders are not just for candles. Use them to support and elevate other things as well. This red toile candle holder shows off a creamy white ceramic pumpkin.

Look for dried grasses to add a natural Fall touch to your entry. I tied this bundle of dried wheat stalks with organza ribbon, fanned out the ends, and stood it proudly on the table. You can also use dried glasses in pots, vases, or baskets.

Silk leaves make wonderful garlands for the entryway in your home. Here I tied each leaf to a piece of twine, separated them with a piece or orange satin ribbon, and stretched the garland across the arches in my entryway.

A fall sticker was adhered to the bright yellow leaf in the center of the garland giving it a more custom decorative touch.

A leaf garland can also be draped across the corner of a picture or mirror in your entryway. It's an instant way to transform your room into a celebration of Fall.

To fill a large space in your entry, consider filling baskets with pumpkins of all sizes and shades of orange. You can use craft pumpkins, or real ones from the Pumpkin Patch.

Framed subway art spells out the goodness of the season. There are many seasonal printables available online, or you can create your own. This art piece was made with stickers adhered to a 5X7 piece of vanilla colored paper. We framed it and tied a rich orange grosgrain ribbon around it. Placed on the entryway table, the framed words announce the celebration of the magical season of Fall.
