Spring Nest Easter Place Cards

Birds aren't the only ones building nests this spring! Here's a clever craft tutorial on how to make nest-inspired place cards for your Easter table or any spring event.

These cheery little nests are a great way to bring spring and all that it symbolizes to your table, and they make the perfect place holders for your honored guests.

Just write your guests name on a little green leaf and perch the nests at each place setting. You can use craft eggs, or for a sweet treat, fill each nest with pastel colored candy-coated Easter eggs, or foil wrapped chocolate eggs.

Supplies
  • Raffia
  • Mod Podge
  • Sponge applicator
  • Plastic wrap
  • Excelsior
  • Small silk flowers
  • Small speckled eggs
Directions

Step 1: Soak the raffia strands for about 3 minutes in warm water. Remove the water by running your fingers down each strand.

Step 2: For each nest, line a small bowl completely with plastic wrap. Apply a coat of Mod Podge to the bowl with a sponge applicator.

Step 3: Starting at the center of the bowl, begin to wind the raffia around in a spiral shape. Press the raffia strand down as you fill the bottom of the bowl and work up the sides. Add more Mod Podge as you go--dabbing it on top of the strands and continue to press down with your fingers. Add new strands as you go until you get your desired height.

Step 4: Let the nests dry completely and then gently remove them from the plastic wrap. Turn them upside down to allow the bottoms to dry.

Step 5: Add some green excelsior or Easter grass to each nest.

Step 6: Embellish each little nest with craft eggs, or use small candy coated or foil-wrapped Easter eggs. Add a silk leaf to the nest with each guest's name on it.  You can also add a small silk flower or fern for added color and festivity.
