Summer Party Planning in 5 Simple Steps

It's easy to put together a summer party if you make sure to follow a few basic steps. We put together this simple check list to plan the perfect summer event without stress or worry.

Overwhelmed by the idea of planning a summer get together? Don't be! Summer parties are all about relaxing with friends and family. They should be casual events in most cases and all about enjoying company of loved ones outdoors.

Check out our five easy tips and remember the most important rule - have fun!

Pick a Date

When should your party be planned to ensure optimal satisfaction? Any day of the week is fine during the summer, but Saturday is always ideal. This allows your guests to stay over as late as they want without having to worry about getting out of bed the next morning for work.

Determine Your Guest List

Is this event for friends and family or friends only? Will your party be large and all-inclusive or small and intimate? Invite guests that will have fun at the kind of event you want to host - and keep in mind, the summer season is long! Don't worry about feeling pressured to invite everyone over at once. A good way to reconnect and spend time with people is to keep gatherings smaller.

Send Out Invites

Don't forget to invite your guests, that's a crucial part for a good party in the making! It's your choice on whether to go the traditional paper invite route or not, but regardless of your decision, send out an official announcement.

Make an impression on friends by sending a physical invitation via mail. That's USPS, not e-mail. You can customize your invitations on different sites online.

Or, if you're in a bit of a time crunch to get invites out, send one of our online invitations. They're easy to customize, manage and send out, plus they're great for planning potluck parties!

Plan Your Menu

Steak, fish, or surf-and-turf? Keep the menu for your summer party simple. Try to keep your food options down to a few choices per course. For a casual outdoor get together, consider skipping the appetizers altogether and head straight for the grill. Ask guests to bring a salad or dessert if they offer to contribute.

Freshen Up Decor

It's summertime, which means it's a time to celebrate color! Don't neglect the little details - they often make more of an impact with less work. Decorate your table with bright summer colors and votive candles to set the mood after the sun goes down. No need to get fussy - paper party supplies are perfect and just a few small items can make a big difference!
