Superhero Kids Birthday Party Tips

You’ll be a superhero to your kids when you create this birthday party!

This theme was inspired by my son Lucas, who came up with his own secret identity: Dippydo. He even made his own costume.  Here are a few tips for planning your own superhero party.

Tip 1: Pick A Color Scheme

I went with blue, red and yellow, colors that are often associated with superheroes. I laid out a white table with white chairs and accented it with red napkins and yellow forks. You don't have to spend a lot of money either. Superhero wrapping paper is a simple, budget-friendly way to spruce up your table.

The kids loved this color coordinated lollipop tree decoration I had waiting at the entrance at the party for them.

Tip 2: Go Printable Crazy

Prinables are a great way to customize your party. I usually make my own, but I decided to use the company Anders Ruff who customized labels for the party. There were labels on the water bottles, soda cans, pop wrappers, toothpick flags for the burgers and gift bag tags all keeping our superhero theme in mind. They even made a Superman logo for Lucas with a big "L" that was included throughout the party. It was such a nice touch!

Tip 3: Set Up A Craft Table

Since this is a super hero party, I thought it would be cute to have a "Make Your Own Cape" station and a "Make Your Own Superhero Mask" station. Pick up some temporary tattoos and let the kids have fun turning themselves into their favorite superheroes!

Tip 4: Dress Up Your Food

Take all those printable you made or had ordered for you and dress up your party food. I decided to serve several healthy options for the kids as well as some staples, such as rice krispie treats. We stuck flags that said "POP!" in the treats and used Lucas' superman logo on other snack bins carrying cookies and crackers.

A great way to make those healthy options more appealing is to get creative. Try serving veggie Super Power Sticks. Write a sign on a dish that says "For Super X-Ray Vision" and put inside sliced carrots. For celery write, "For Super Strength, “and so on. Suddenly the veggies aren't what they used to be!

Tip 5: Don't Forget The Goodie Bags!

Fill your superhero goodies bags with action figures, comic books and lots of fun stickers! You can even take an inexpensive item (like a themed pair of socks) and remove all the tags. Put them in clear cellophane bags and seal them with a superhero sticker.
