Teen Choice Awards Party Ideas for Teens

You may or may not tune into the Academy Awards every year, but you can bet your teenager won’t missthe Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, July 22nd. Last year’s award show drew in more than 100 million votes celebrating the hottest teens in music, film, television, fashion, comedy, sports and the web.

This year’s live awards show starts at 8pm EST on Sunday, July 22nd and will be hosted by Demi Lovato and Joel McHale.

Since the kids are out of school, why not turn it into a real celebration at home? We’ve got the tips to turn the Teen Choice Awards into a summer party at home that will reunite school friends and create some lasting memories that are sure to be talked about long after school starts up again.

2012 Teen Choice Awards Party Invitations

This is a casual summer party at home for teens, so no need to go completely crazy with themed paper invitations.

If you’re comfortable with your teenager sending around a Facebook event invitation to select friends you can do that. If, however, you’re more comfortable with a direct invitation that parents will see, try crafting your own.

We love the idea of using the Teen Choice award symbol – the surfboard. It’s easy, colorful and was picked by the awards show because it represents the freedom summer vacation offers teens – even if they’re not surfers. Use the 2012 Teen Choice Surfboard Award designs to inspire your own.

Teen Choice Awards Party Fun

Don’t just have everyone over for the usual sleepover to watch the show. Invite guests over earlier and have them get creative.

Red Carpet Celeb Photo Shoot

Since every awards show requires a red carpet, invite guests to have their own photo shoot.

Enlarge and print out faces of top 2012 Teen Choice nominees and make into masks by cutting out the eyes and mouth. Staple elastic to each side of the mask or attach them to paint stirrers so teens can hold up in front of their face.

Then, take lots of group photos with you and your favorite celebrities. This activity is simple, but sure to get a lot of laughs and pretty awesome pictures!

Cast Your Vote!

This is an awards party, so pass out award ballot forms and pens and ask guests to guess the winners for each category. Get the complete list of nominees here .

At the end of the night, tally the results and give the winner an ITunes Gift Card prize.

Teen Choice Awards Party Food

Be inspired by the surf board theme of the Teen Choice Awards and serve carefree summer favorites at your party.

The usual hamburgers, hot dogs, and cupcakes are easy and crowd pleasing. We like the idea of making food mini for a special party menu so sliders and pigs-in-a-blanket are perfect. Check out our gallery, 10 Cupcakes That Look Like Your Favorite Summer Food , for inspiration for dessert - our favorite are these snow cone cupcakes!

Teen Choice Awards Playlist

While you take photos, munch on food and cast your votes, have a playlist inspired by the 2012 Teen Choice Awards playing in the background.
