Terrifically Tacky Appetizers for an Ugly Sweater Party

Ugly sweater holiday parties are the perfect opportunity for a hostess not to worry about making things too fancy or perfect.

The entire point of ugly sweater holiday parties is to turn up the tackiness factor with everything from decor to food.

So, as you plan your ugly sweater holiday party menu, think old-school appetizers for a terrifically tacky and cheesy appetizer spread. Secretly, everyone loves to eat these appetizers even if they aren't the “in” thing right now. Everyone from the most seasoned hostess to the smallest kiddie at your party will enjoy these tasty and tacky apps. As a bonus, all of these are pretty ridiculously easy to make.

Embarrassingly Easy Sweet and Sour Meatballs

All this recipe requires you to do is ask the butcher for 2 pounds of mini meatballs and pick up a jar of jelly and a can of spicy tomato sauce. Then, just toss everything into a slow cooker!

Ingredients:

1 12 ounce can chili sauce or spicy tomato sauce

1 small jar grape jelly

2 pounds worth of mini meatballs

Directions:

Toss it all into the slow cooker, stir it up and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until the meatballs are warm.

Pigs in a Blanket

There is perhaps, no more classic appetizer than the pig-in-a-blanket. Easy to prep ahead of time and always a favorite party snack, it's a must-have for your ugly sweater soiree.

Ingredients:

1 package smoked sausages

2 cans refrigerated crescent rolls

Directions:

Wrap each smoked sausage in a third of a crescent roll. Place on baking sheet. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes or until the crescent roll is brown around the edges.

Cheesy Cheese Ball

Thoughts of tacky tinsel often come on the heels of a cheese ball mention. While this tacky party appetizer has gotten a bad rep over the years, it's actually a big party hit when made right. Get our simple cheese ball on your Ugly Sweater party menu if you want it to be a hit!
