Thanksgiving Felt Leaf Bunting Decoration

Start a new Thanksgiving tradition with this felt leaf bunting decoration. It’s a long standing tradition in my family to go around the dinner table and say what we are thankful for on Thanksgiving. I just love hearing what others are thankful for and look forward to this little tradition every year. I thought I'd take our tradition and do something a bit more creative with it this year.

For this craft, you'll create leaf shapes out of felt and hand stitch with embroidery thread. You simply attach the leaves to clothespins and string them up in your home. The leaf bunting would look great over a fireplace.

Make sure to have paper and pens available for guests to jot down what they are thankful for. Guests can then attach their papers to the leaf clothespins. You could also make 30 leaves and have each member of your family pin up what they’re thankful for every day in November.

  • Felt
  • Embroidery Thread
  • Needle
  • Scissors
  • Jute or String
  • Clothespins
  • Cardstock
  • Hot Glue

Step 1: Cut leaf shapes out of felt. You can freehand a leaf template or use an existing stencil. Use embroidery thread to hand sew a vein down the middle of the leaves.

Step 2: Attach the felt leaves to clothespins using hot glue, then string the leaves along jute or string.

Step 3: Have your Thanksgiving guests write what they are thankful for on pieces of coordinating paper and hang in the clothespins.
