Thanksgiving Memory Journal Craft

I love creating a memory journal and bringing it as a hostess gift, asking other guests to capture the mood of the day on each page, and then handing it over to the host at the end of the celebration.

Well beyond words, a memory notebook can include drawings from children, favorite family recipes, and of course quotes taken from the day; the options are endless and the memories gathered are priceless.

For this notebook, I opted for pressed wood covers and hard cream paper as inserts that was bound with natural rope; this allowed me to create a decorative cover using seasonal paper on top with vinyl lettering to title the book in a natural autumn theme. From start the finish the book took just under an hour to create and cost as little as $10.

If you plan on making this Thanksgiving memory book part of your yearly traditions, be sure to purchase appropriate vinyl numbers for the year. Collect and store them so you can recount the previous year’s memories at next year’s Thanksgiving celebration!

  • 2 pressed wood squares with wholes in place (or drilled if needed)
  • 2 lengths of natural rope 30 sheets of hard cream card stock Decorative paper Vinyl lettering Mod Podge Foam Brush Whole Punch

Step 1: Cut 2 lengths of rope to use as bindings for the book.

Step 2: Punch wholes into the paper to align with the cover wholes.

Step 3: Use the decorative paper to create a festive cover and than apply Mod Podge with the foam brush to secure it place. Allow it to dry.

Step 4: Place the vinyl lettering in place.

Step 5: Bind the book together with the rope.
