Thrifty Super Bowl Party Tips

Super Bowl party costs can rack up fast. Rather than blowing your budget on food and decor, get inspired with these budget friendly ideas that will spare your wallet while keeping the fun going.

There are some costs on Super Bowl costs you just can’t forego (beer and napkins), but saving where you can will make it easier to finally afford that new big screen you’ve been eyeing.

Here are some of our budget-friendly Super Bowl party tips. And remember, DIY-ing versus buying can be time consuming, but certainly money saving!

Party with Free Printables

Tons of sites and bloggers are getting into the football spirit by making their own creative printables to decorate and impress. We've gotten into the spirit by putting together a few free printables to be used with games like Super Bowl Box BettingCommercial Bingo, and our Propostion Betting game.

Choose Color Over Logo

Instead of purchasing decorative details with team logos, stick to the colors instead! The items you need are bound to be cheaper than licensed ones, and you’ll be able to reuse them for occasions in the future. This banner from Piggy Bank Parties is great for a team that has green in it's colors, or just as a genericfootball-themed decor piece.

Astroturf... Lots and Lots of Astroturf

Buy astrotuf in bulk and incorporate it into every element of your party. This grassy imposter can be used to cover tables, create drink coozies (as featured on Uncommon Designs), and even embellish your food spread. Head to your local wholesale club and buy anything you need in bulk. Additionally, choosing one theme for your decor and stocking up in bulk will save you loads of money in the long run as well as make it easier to come up with a wow-worthy theme. We recommend choosing something as simple as astroturf and incorporating it into all of your party elements.

Use Paper Bags as Serving Bowls

Paper lunch bags are super chearp tp buy in bulk, and can be used as fun and festive serving bowls for chips, crackers or peanuts. Just roll them down and scrunch the paper to create a rustic, textured look, like Balancing Home did.

Make it a Potluck

Rather than spending tons on grub for the big game, turn it into a potluck party and ask guests to bring different dishes to share. Start an event page where guests can claim the items they want to bring as well as share what they are planning to cook to avoid overlap.

Double the Fun

Incorporate props and items that have multiple uses into your party to save both time and money. Rather than simply serving beer the boring old ways, show it off in a creative way so your booze becomes a centerpiece! We have some great ideas for displaying your brews here.

In addition, adding a festive touch to the little things can really add that extra oomph to your decor with very little hassle. Adorn serving toothpicks with colored flags and add football stickers to your disposable plates and cups.

Use Found Items

Gather jerseys, old trophies, and football paraphernalia that your family may have laying around. Use them to decorate and highlight certain parts of the room - free is always fun!
