Throw a Galentine's Day Brunch

Ever since Leslie Knope deemed Galentine's Day a legit and worthy holiday, we've fallen in love with the idea of celebrating your lady friends with a fun and festive brunch.

The ladies on Parks and Recreation celebrate Galentine's Day on Feb. 13, independent of their romantic relationships, just to celebrate how awesome they all are. "It's like Lilith Fair," Leslie says, "minus the angst. Plus frittatas."

It's no secret the women of Pawnee love their breakfast food, but we love the idea of throwing a brunch in honor of all your gal pals. Whether or not you have a significant other, it's important to remember how special your girlfriends are in your life. Valentine's Day isn't just about romantic love -- it's about love for everyone important in your life.

So whether you choose to celebrate your girlfriends on Feb. 13, 14 or any other time this month, here are some fabulous ideas for throwing a Galentine's Day brunch. Pancakes, booze AND chocolate? Yes, please.

Set the Scene

Fresh-Cut Flowers

We love the idea of setting a girlie tablescape without going too over-the-top or kitchsy. The talescape on Kiki Mac is lovely with fresh-cut flowers nestled in floral teacups.

DIY Stripes

Twin Stripe made her own striped "tablecloth" but cutting different colored crepe paper into pieces, and taping them to the underside of a glass table. How cute is that? Super easy and inexpensive.

Pour the Drinks

Strawberry Mint Bellini

Brunch isn't brunch without some champagne. If you want to jazz up your bottle of bubbly, mix into a bellini, like this delicious strawberry-mint bellini recipe from Chevrons and Eclairs. It comes out a pretty pink color, and it light and refreshing enough to serve at brunch.

Blood Orange Screwdriver

For something a little stronger, mix up this Blood Orange Screwdriver from Kitchen Treaty. It's a tangier (and I'll say, prettier!) version of the classic brunch favorite, made with fresh-squeezed blood orange juice, fresh-squeezed navel orange juice and some good vodka.

Serve the Food

Heart Waffle Sandwiches with Prosciutto

It's always fun to stay on theme for Valentine's Day, which is why we love these adorable heart waffle sandwiches from Design Love Fest. They're the perfect combination of sweet and savory, and are easy finger foods for guests.

Raspberry Pancakes

Our own Katie Meyers shares her recipe for Heart-Shaped Raspberry Pancakes, which are perfect for Valentine's Day. Serve these with some warm maple syrup!

Stay Busy

Craftentines Day

The ladies over at A Vintage Splendor used their Galentine's Day brunch as a time to get to work on their best Valentine's Day crafts. It's a fun idea to get creative with your girlfriends, and make fun favors for each other, your kids or your significant other!

Mini Mani Station

I love how Twin Stripe set up a mani station at their brunch, complete with pretty pink nail polish. Great way to get your digits all primped and prepped for V-Day!
