Tim Howard Fever Takes Over Despite World Cup Loss

Even though the USMNT lost to Belgium in an upsetting 2-0 match in the World Cup, Americans are bursting with pride for their goalie, Tim Howard.

Sure, USA was elminated after the round of 16, but that didn't even upset most Americans because Tim Howard made us proud. Playing in his second World Cup, Howard has had an impressive 16 saves -- yes, 16! -- shots. That's the most saves in any World Cup game since 1966.

Americans were so blown away by his amazing performance, they took to the internet to share their satisfaction. In meme form, of course, with the hashtag #ThingsTimHowardCouldHaveSaved.

Someone even updated the Secretary of Defense Wikipedia page. Jimmy Wales, the co-founder of Wikipedia wasn't even mad -- he was impressed. And very amused

So thank you, Tim Howard. We're celebrating your efforts during the World Cup, and happy that even though we lost, it was a game well played.

(Also, he knew he was going to be a badass when he was in high school. Check out his senior yearbook quote!)
