Totally Tubular 80s Slang

One big 80s trend you're bound to remember if you grew up during the decade is the slang!

Even if you didn't grow up then, you'll know phrases like "Fresh!" or "Totally Awesome!" thanks to the movies that defined the decade.

While you won't find us tossing around the popular phrases of the 80s in normal circumstances nowadays, we will break them out with gusto for an 80s theme party.

In fact, we love the vernacular of the 1980s so much, we think it's only right to pay tribute to the vocabulary with wordy decor. Aside from using these fun phrases throughout the night, bring 80s slang into your theme party's decorations.

Celebrate the lively vocabulary of the 80s by sprinkling your party with quotes, phrases and definition-style terms described on foam core boards.

Our Top 80s Slang Sayings

No, duh!
That's bad... (as in good!)
Eat my shorts!
Not even!
Take a chill pill.
Where's the Beef?

Create some funky word art for your 80's theme party.

Buy scrapbooking or decal stickers of individual alphabet sheets and spell out what you want to write, letter by letter. This works well if you want to display white letter quotes on a black board - or on smaller embellishments like drink or food labels.

Buy neon sheets of paper and simply print the quotes out large on your computer. Then, affix the paper to foam core board or cardboard for sturdiness. Hang these sturdier decorations around the party.

If you don't want to decorate with 80s phrases, consider peppering them into other parts of your party: label the food "Bodacious Burgers", "Wicked Wine" and "Gnarly Nachos."
