Window Winter Scene Gift Wrap

If you do a lot of online Christmas shopping, you're sure to find yourself with a pile of packaging materials like brown boxes, Styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap and clear plastic sheets. Rather than just tossing these materials into the garbage, incorporate them into your own gift wrappings.

You'd be surprised what a bit of ribbon, a few stickers and some cardstock can do to inexpensively dress up your gift in such a personalized and unique way!

White wrapping paper
Tape and double-stick tape
Clear Cellophane (new or recycled from gift baskets or a flower bouquet)
Clear plastic sheets (from scrapbook sticker packaging or something similar)
Holiday themed cardstock
Recycled cards
Holiday design self-adhesive ribbon (look for Martha Stewart's ribbon packs at craft stores)
Decorative ribbon

Step 1: Wrap the gift with white wrapping paper; use tape to secure paper.

Step 2: Wrap the gift again with clear Cellophane; use tape to secure Cellophane.

Step 3: Cut a plastic sheet into a rectangle that will fit on the front of your gift.

Step 4: Cut holiday themed card stockthe same size as the plastic sheet.

Step 5: Cut out a festive accent, such as the pink oval with the bird in our gift design, from an old holiday card and use double-stick tape to adhere it to the card stock.

Step 6: Place the plastic rectangle on top of the card stock to create the window.

Step 7: Tape the two sides and the bottom on the rectangles together so edges are completely sealed; leave the top open.

Step 8: Add salt into the top opening and then tape the top closed.

Step 9: Use double-stick tape to attach the window rectangles to the front of the gift box.

Step 10: Add holiday design self-adhesive ribbon around the window's border to mask the tape used to keep the rectangles together.

Step 11: Tie a ribbon around the gift as a final touch.
