Winter Snowflake Garland Craft

Creating a holiday garland with snowflakes (or any other shape) is a great family crafting activity and requires little cost or crafting skills, making it the perfect holiday craft for everyone to enjoy.

I strung my garland atop of a garland of berry branches for an easy, inexpensive and elegant Christmas decoration, but the children used their garland made of just their paper snowflakes to decorate their bedroom doors. Once you start working with a holiday garland, the possibilities are endless! Consider working in pine cones, evergreen boughs or even poinsettias into your garland’s design for a Christmas decoration with added natural depth.

  • 10-12 Holiday Shapes cut from scrapbooking paper
  • Ribbon or twine
  • Mod Podge
  • Paper blade or Scissors (optional)
  • Sponge applicator
  • Hole Punch

Step 1: If you are not using dye cut holiday shapes, trace out your shape from your selected scrap booking paper.

Step 2: Apply a thin coat of Mod Podge to your shapes and allow them to dry for 1-2 hours.

Step 3: Once dry, cut a whole in the center of each shape large enough to thread a ribbon or twine through.

Step 4: Thread your ribbon through each shape until you have the desired length of your garland and secure the ends with a knot. If you are handing your garland, take care to knot between the shapes to ensure they remain separated.

Step 5: Once complete, find the perfect spot to display your holiday garland.
