Ahumado Cocktail

I had a crazy good meal at Toro Toro, in downtown Miami, that was interactive and at times over the top, in the best kind of way. 


This is a nice twist on the classic margarita, and the mezcal provides a smoky flavor. This isn’t for the faint of heart!

Ingredients
  • 2 oz Del Maguey Mezcal Vida
  • 1/2 oz solerno blood orange liqueur
  • 1/2 oz organic agave nectar
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2-3 slices of yellow bell pepper (muddled)
  • Blood orange / jalapeño infused ice cube (optional)
Directions

To make the blood orange and jalapeno-infused ice cube, freeze fresh-squeezed blood orange juice and jalapeno slices with water in an ice tray until ice cubes form. 

Muddle the bell peppers on the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add the mezcal, blood orange liqueur, agave and lime juice. Shake.

Place infused ice cubes into a rocks glass. Pour cocktail over the ice. Garnish with a blood orange wedge, or slice of jalapeno. Enjoy!
