Bacon Burger with Homemade Thousand Island Dressing

Bacon on top of a burger is not a new concept by any means, but bacon wrapped around a burger patty is something you don’t often see!  To make the burger even more special, you can whip up a quick homemade thousand island dressing to top your bacon burger with. A slice of cheddar cheese and some fresh tomatoes finish off this burger and make it something really delicious.

This burger recipe is one of our ultimate and doesn't shy away from calorie or flavor overload. Enjoy with a cold beer and you've got yourself a scrumptious summer meal.

Ingredients

For Burger

1 1/2 pounds Ground Beef
12 slices Thick-Cut Bacon
4 slices Cheddar Cheese
8 slices Fresh Tomato
Salt and Pepper, to Taste
4 Hamburger Buns
1 recipe Homemade Thousand Island, see below

For Homemade Thousand Island

1/2 cup Ketchup
1/2 cup Yellow Mustard
1/2 cup Relish
1/2 cup Mayonaisse
Salt and Pepper, to Taste

Directions

Heat the grill to medium temperature.

Divide the ground beef into 4 round patties, about 2 1/2-inches in diameter and 3/4-inch thick. Season the patties with salt and pepper. Wrap each patty completely with 3 slices of bacon.

Place the burgers on the grill and cook until the desired doneness. Be careful when cooking the burgers because the fat from the bacon will drip into the grill and create a larger flame. When the burgers are just about done, place 1 slice of cheese on each burger and melt slightly.

While the burgers are cooking, make the thousand island dressing you'll top the burger with. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, mustard, relish, mayonnaise, salt and pepper. Stir until the ingredients are fully incorporated. Set aside until ready to use.

To assemble the burgers, place a large dollop of your homemade thousand island dressing and 2 slices of tomatoes on top of each burger.

Serve immediately and enjoy!
