Blackberry Bite Halloween Cocktail Recipe

Unlike our favorite vampires, this raven Halloween cocktail recipe is perfectly delightful in daylight, though we think you’ll find it to be utterly hair-raising when the sun goes down!

Dark and sour is the hour when your guests arrive to your Halloween bash and you haven’t a drink to offer them. This deep hued martini is just the syrupy, sultry elixir you need to awaken the inner immortal in every party-goer who dares to sink his or her teeth into this blackberry cocktail.

3 ounces vodka

3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters

1/4 ounce blackberry syrup (recipe to follow)

4 1/2 cups fresh blackberries, plus more for garnish

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup water

To make the blackberry syrup bring your berries, sugar, and water to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir mixture constantly until sugar has completely dissolved.

Reduce the heat and allow the sauce to simmer, stirring occasionally until the berries are mushy; about 30 minutes. Pour your berry mixture through a fine-mesh strainer, and discard any solids. Chill the syrup in fridge before using to make your cocktails.

To make cocktail shake vodka and bitters with ice and strain into a martini glass. Pour in chilled blackberry syrup, allowing it to pool at the bottom of glass. Garnish with fresh blackberries.
