Chess Pie Recipe

For a vintage-style shower, old family favorite foods are in order. So sprinkle the dessert table with pies, cakes, and cookies that are made from recipes passed down from previous generations. Nothing beats the tried and true dishes from your grandmothers and aunts!

This chess pie recipe is a family favorite, originating from a great aunt of mine. It’s simple to make, but the taste is amazing. And it’s even better if prepared a day or two in advance so that the flavors have time to blend and “marry.”

Ingredients
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) cold butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • Deep dish pie shell
Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Blend eggs, sugar, and butter together with a mixer on low. When mixture is combined well, add in vanilla, milk, and flour. Mix until well integrated.

Pour mixture into pie shell and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Remove and let rest on a wire rack until cool.
