Ice Cream Floats Patriotic Dessert Recipe

Are you looking for child-friendly ideas for your backyard 4th of July party? Look no further, as this recipe for a delicious Fruit Punch Ice Cream Float is sure to make all those little mouths at your cookout happy.

Every child loves the red mustache left behind by a cherry-flavored drink or good fruit punch, and this creative twist on the classic soda float offers one that lingers long after the drink is gone—but while also delivering less sugar than most floats or sweet drinks, like soda. Simple to make ahead of time and bursting with a sweet cherry taste, this frosty beverage is a real crowd pleaser that even the adults will want to sip on. Try it and see for yourself!

Ingredients:

1 bottle of soda water

1 cup of grenadine

1 bottle of cranberry juice

1 gallon of vanilla ice cream

Sprinkles for garnish (preferably red, white and blue!)

Directions:

Pour the soda water into a tall pitcher. Next, add the cranberry juice and grenadine, then mix well with a spoon. (If you are making this batch ahead of time, you can place this mixture in the fridge for up to 2 hours before serving.)

Pour the mixture into short glasses, and then top each one with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Garnish with sprinkles, using them to form a festive rim around the glass. Serve immediately, to avoid melting.

Note: For extra fruity fun, add fresh strawberries or cherries to each glass!
