Green St. Patrick's Day Cupcakes in a Jar

Get festive this St. Patrick’s Day and bake up a batch of green desserts in a jar - cupcakes to be specific! Your little leprechauns can assist you with measuring out the ingredients and mixing everything together.

Add a wee bit of burlap and a four leaf clover to your cake jars before serving for a St. Patrick's Day treat for kids and adults.

Baking in a mason jar is very trendy at the moment, and things just seem to taste better in them. Use pint size (or smaller) jars and they are the perfect serving size for little mouths. Only fill your jars halfway full with batter and the jars will fill during baking.

Ingredients:

14 half pint Mason Jars

1 box White Cake (plus ingredients listed on box)

Green Food Coloring

Green Icing (Wilton Cookie Icing in the squeezable bottle works great)

Non-Stick Cooking Spray

Burlap

Green Cardstock

Scissors

Craft Glue

Directions:

Make white cake batter according to the box. Mix in green food coloring until you get your desired shade of green (I used around 30 drops).

Spray 14 – ½ pint mason jars with non-stick cooking spray. Fill jars ½ way full with cake batter, place on a cookie sheet and bake according to box. Allow to cool. If cake is overflowing out of the top, take a knife and trim off excess cake. Ice the tops using green icing.

Cut 14 – 2 x 10 inch strips of burlap. Attach them around the mason jars using craft glue.

Cut out a 2 inch wide shamrock and attach to the front of the burlap wrapped jar using craft glue.

Serves:

14
