Grilled Cheese Burger

To bring the much-loved grilled cheese up a notch, add a thick beef patty inside of the grilled cheese to make it a meal that would satisfy just about any meat lover!

I have yet to meet someone who doesn’t like grilled cheese. While we all may have a different preference when it comes to the exact combination of cheese and bread, to me, nothing is more satisfying than melted cheese sandwiched between two slices of grilled sourdough.

To bring this much-loved grilled cheese up a notch, I added a thick beef patty inside of the grilled cheese to make it a meal that would satisfy just about any meat lover. Now what could be better than beef and grilled cheese all combined into one burger?

  • 2 pounds Ground Beef
  • 12 slices American Cheese
  • 8 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 4 sets of Thick-Cut Sourdough Bread
  • Salt and Pepper, to Taste

Heat the grill to medium-high temperature.

Divide the ground beef into 4 oval patties, about 3 1/2-inches in diameter and 1-inch thick. Season the patties with salt and pepper. Place the burgers on the grill and cook until they are slightly below the desired doneness. These burgers are thicker so they will take a little bit longer to cook.

Once the burgers have finished cooking, place 1 patty in between 1 set (2 slices) of sourdough bread. Top the patty with 3 slices of cheese (I used American but you can use whatever you prefer!). Smear a thick coat of butter on the top and bottom surface of each piece of bread.

Place the burger sandwiches on a pan over medium heat. Cook, flipping the burger hallway through cooking, until the cheese has completely melted and the butter and melted and browned the bread.

Serve immediately
