When you go to a baseball game as an adult, you will most likely always have a big, cold beer in your hand. Beer is just a classic baseball item that goes along with your cracker jacks and hot dogs!

So if you’re throwing a baseball party for an adult, it’s fun to incorporate beer in a more unique way by making Beer Floats. Start with a beer that is already dessert-like, such as a thick Stout or a fruity Lambic, then add some ice cream – and you’ve got yourself an expected sweet treat that is truly reminiscent of a good old Root Beer Float.  In fact, if you’re throwing a baseball party for a younger child, feel free to swap out the beer for classic root beer.  The kids will have a blast with such a classic treat!

To serve the beer floats, opt for simple white or red paper cups, adding a striped paper straw as an accent.

Ingredients:

1 pint vanilla ice cream

4 12-oz. beer bottles of your favorite beer (stout or fruity lambic works best  or substitute root beer for children)

12 small cups

12 striped paper straws

Directions:

Place 1 scoop of ice cream in each cup.  Fill each cup with about 1/4 cup of the beer (or root beer). Place a straw inside each cup and serve immediately.

You should also consider making a Beer Float station by putting out cold beers or root beers in a large bucket next to ice cream (be sure to keep the ice cream cold by placing it in a cooler or on ice).  Have the guests grab their own cups and straws, and then they can make their floats exactly to their liking.  This option allows the guests to choose the exact beer-to-ice cream ratio they want, while is also makes serving much easier on you!
