Ice Cream Sandwich Sundae Recipe

An ice cream sundae is probably the most beloved ice cream dessert out there. What’s not to love about ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate and caramel sauce, all topped with a red maraschino cherry?

I’m always trying to find different ways to put a special spin on ice cream sundaes. Sometimes I go way out of the box, and sometimes I just make a simple change that re-creates the sundae into a unique dessert.

The second option is what I did in this recipe. I simply subbed ice cream sandwiches in for ice cream. It was an easy exchange, but wow—was it a good one! The ice cream sandwiches really add a special touch to the sundae.

A fun way to serve these ice cream sandwiches is to create a sundae. Put out ice cream sandwiches cut into cubes and all of the sundae fixings, and everyone will be able to make their sundaes to their exact liking. You can also go one step further and put out extra special toppings, such as sprinkles, candy, fresh fruits, and more!

Ingredients
  • 2 ice cream sandwiches
  • Whipped cream
  • Caramel sauce
  • Chocolate sauce
  • Maraschino cherries
  • Any other topping you enjoy, such as sprinkles, candy, fresh fruit, etc.
Directions

Cut the ice cream sandwiches into small cubes.

Place a handful of ice cream sandwich pieces into each individual dish.

Top with a large dollop of whipped cream, caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, and a maraschino cherry. Enjoy immediately!

Note: These are best assembled right before you are ready to serve. If you want to make things even easier, you can always cut the ice cream sandwiches into cubes ahead of time and place them in the freezer until ready to use.
