Last-Minute Party Dessert on a Dime: Dulce de Leche Sundaes

If you need to throw together an impressive meal for last-minute dinner guests, you won’t really have time to prepare an elaborate dessert. So in that case, this simple and inexpensive recipe for Cinnamon-Tortilla Crisp Dulce de Leche Sundaes is the way to go.

All you have to do is prepare the baked tortillas ahead of time. (It will take about 10-15 minutes, but most of that time involves the tortillas sitting in the oven, so you can go about your other business.) Then, assembling the sundaes between courses is a breeze!

By serving the ice cream in margarita glasses, you’ll give this dessert an extra fun and festive feel. It will pair perfectly with our Mexican Casserole recipe , which uses store-bought rotisserie chicken to cut precious time out your last-minute dinner party preparation.

2 flour tortillas

1/4 cup softened butter

1 teaspoon cinnamon

3 tablespoons sugar

Vanilla Ice Cream

1 can Dulce de Leche

Combine butter, sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl, then spread the mixture evenly over the tortillas.

Cut the tortillas into eighths and arrange them on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

Scoop balls of ice cream into margarita glasses. Arrange crisped cinnamon tortillas in the top of the ice cream. Heat the dulce de leche and drizzle over the ice cream and serve.
