Little Cupid Cookies for Kids

Children love making cookies nearly as much as they love eating them, and these Little Cupid Cookies make a great kitchen activity that they children will love sharing with their classmates on Valentine’s Day.

Simple and quick to make, we made these from start to finish in under 30 minutes, making them a great mid week activity that the whole family can enjoy together.

Ingredients
  • 1 package of ready made sugar cookies
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 drop of red food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon of milk
  • 1 cup of sugar sprinkles
Directions

Mix up a batch of sugar cookies. If you're making sugar cookies from a pre-made mix, follow the instructions and bake the sugar cookies according to the packet instructions. Because ready made cookie dough tends to be more moist than homemade dough, bake the cookie discs and save the cookie cutting for after the baking to keep the mess at a minimum, and to ensure that the shape of the cookie stays clean and heart-like.

Once the cookies are done, move them to a cooling rack and allow them to cool while you prepare the frosting.

In a large mixing bowl, add the sugar, coloring and milk and blend until you have your desired thickness.

Adding more sugar creates a thicker frosting, adding more milk creates a thinner frosting, for these cookies, we opted for thick frosting to allow us to dip them with ease.

Once the cookies are cool, use your heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out the hearts and then dip them in the frosting, placing them on a sheet of parchment paper to set while you dip the other cookies.

Once all the cookies are cut and dipped, generously sprinkle with sugar sprinkles, then move to the fridge and allow them to set for 1 hour before packing them in gift bags or eating.
