Pulled Pantry Party Mix

Snack mixes are a tried and true recipe to serve at parties, from casual house parties to more elegant cocktail soirees. And honestly, it doesn't really matter the ingredients. When it comes to party food, it's not what you serve, but how you serve it.

For these party mixes, I just love grabbing what I have on hand and being creative with the flavor combos; nuts, chocolate chips, dried fruit, coconut shavings, pretzel pieces and even a mix of oil and spices. When it comes to mixing salty and sweet, you can't really go wrong.

For my "I'm So Fancy" party mix, I wanted something that tasted a little fancier, and also looked the part. To add a touch of pink, I used bacon bits and drizzled the whole mixture with truffle oil for a bold, savory flavor. And remember what I said about how you serve your food? I used my grandmother's coffee cups to add more elegance to the presentation.

Whether you're in a pinch or have loads of time to plan, don't be hesitant to serve up a snack mix made entirely with your favorite ingredients. Below is the recipe I chose to mix up for a small group, but feel free to be creative – with the recipe, and how you serve it!

  • 3 cups peanuts
  • 1 cups sunflower seeds
  • 3 tablespoons bacon bits
  • 1 tablespoon truffle oil

Mix the peanuts and sunflower seeds together in a microwave-safe bowl. Drizzle with truffle oil, and toss to coat evenly.

Warm in the microwave for 20 seconds (more or less, depending on your microwave), or until the nuts are warm without being too hot.

Distribute evenly in serving dishes, and top with bacon bits. Serve, and enjoy!
