Salty Dog Cocktail Recipe

Now that grapefruits are in season, it is the perfect time to start mixing up this salty and tart cocktail, the Salty Dog. Fresh grapefruit juice makes for a colorful and fruity addition to any summer drink.


For those of you that are familiar, the Salty Dog is a drink usually served with vodka, but I prefer to make mine with gin. It is a simple drink that can be easily served at parties and your guests will love the fun, vibrant color.

Salty-Dog-Cocktail-Recipe

Ingredients
  • Grapefruit juice (Freshly squeezed is better, but store-bought is fine as well)
  • Gin
  • Coarse salt - either kosher or margarita salt works
  • Ice
Directions

Take your cocktail glass and dip the rim in a bowl of water.

Pour your coarse salt onto a small plate. Dip the watered rim onto the plate so it is fully covered in salt.

In a shaker, add three parts grapefuit juice and one part gin over ice. *Chic tip: If you put your fruit in the microwave for 10 seconds it will be easier to work with and you will get more juice out of it.

Give your cocktail a good shake and pour into your salt-rimmed cocktail glass.

Garnish with a grapefruit wedge and enjoy!
