Skinny Creamy Chocolate Mousse Recipe

I have been trying to find healthier alternatives to my favorite treats. I kept hearing rumors about avocado being a great substitute for anything creamy in recipes, and I finally gave it a try for dessert! The result is this decadent chocolate mousse made with avocados. It's shockingly delicious, and even easier to prepare.

We are having a wine tasting in a couple weeks with some girlfriends, and I can't think of a better pairing with red wine than chocolate. They are a match made in heaven!  Chocolate was born to pair with red wine, and the raspberries on top make for the perfect complementary dessert to vino. Add in a guilt-free dessert and you have just the ticket. Your friends will never suspect this is healthy. They will be amazed!

I kept this recipe pretty simple, but I can’t wait to try it with more flavors. You could infuse it with liquors, almond flavoring, or even orange flavoring — the possibilities are endless!

  • 3 ripe avocados, pitted
  • 4 ounces bar German chocolate baking bar, melted
  • 1 tablespoon agave nectar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon course sea salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Fresh raspberries, for garnish

Halve and pit your avocados, and put the flesh into a food processor (if you don’t have a food processor, you can mix everything with a hand blender).

Add the melted chocolate and pulse until smooth.

Add the agave nectar, salt, and vanilla extract, and blend completely (add more/less agave nectar depending on desired sweetness).

Serve in small dishes (a lot goes a long way) and top with fresh raspberries. Enjoy!

Makes: 2-4 servings
