Surprise Easter Egg Rice Krispies Treats

We all know the tradition of stuffing treats inside plastic Easter eggs, and hiding them throughout the yard. But how about hiding edible treats inside another edible Easter egg for a surprise Easter dessert?

These Surprise Easter Egg Rice Krispie Treats are by far the cutest Easter treats I’ve made. They require a little extra effort, but it's 100% worth it to how cute and delicious they came out!

To create these edible eggs, use plastic eggs to help you make the Rice Krispies into an egg shape. Place M&M candy into one half of the Rice Krispies eggs and carefully press them together until they stick and look like full Easter eggs. Drizzle with white chocolate and top with sprinkles and you’ve got an Easter treat that will sure impress your guests.

  • 24 plastic eggs
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 10-ounce bag of mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/2 cup M&Ms
  • White chocolate, melted (I added blue food dye to mine)
  • Easter sprinkles

To make the Rice Krispies, place a large pot over medium heat and allow the butter to melt in the pan. Add the marshmallows and stir occasionally until the marshmallows have completely melted. Remove the pot from the heat and add the cereal. Stir until the cereal is coated with the marshmallows. Set aside.

Place one half of each plastic egg into the cups of a mini muffin pan. Using a tablespoon, place a small scoop of the rice krispies into one half of the plastic egg. Using your hands (it makes it easier if you butter your hands), carefully press the cereal into the egg, creating a hole in the center of the half. Continue with the remaining egg halves. Allow the egg halves to completely harden.

Once the rice krispie egg halves have hardened, very carefully remove the rice krispie halves from the plastic egg shell. Place the rice krispie eggs back into the mini muffin pan while you finish removing the other egg halves.

Place 3 M&Ms into one rice krispie half and take another half and very carefully press both halves together, while making sure the M&Ms stay inside. This will take a little bit of work but just continue pressing the halves together and they will soon enough stick together. Be sure to also keep the rice krispie eggs in their egg shape. Place the full egg back into the mini muffin pan and allow them to harden together.

Finish off the eggs, by drizzling them with dyed white chocolate and then adding Easter Sprinkles on top. Enjoy!

These last for about 1-2 weeks, stored in a sealed tight container.

Makes: About 24 eggs
