Sweet Potato Fries in a Cone

French fries rarely go unnoticed at a BBQ, and these fun sweet potato fries offer a twist that will no doubt be a bit hit at your next summer party.

Sweet, salty and irresistible, you will be surprised how easy they are to make and how quickly they vanish from the table.

Sweet Potato fries are an easy and health addition to any BBQ inspired meal. With so many cooking options, baking, grilling, or deep frying, they are easy to cook with whatever else is on the menu.

Ingredients
  • About 1/2 lb sweet potatoes per person, unpeeled
  • Olive Oil to drizzle
  • About 1/2 teaspoon salt per lb of potatoes
Directions

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

Wash and cut your potatoes into 1/2-inch thick strips. The more consistent your sizes, the more even your fries will cook. You can also certainly peel your potatoes if you prefer. I love the texture of the skin, so leave I it on.

Lay out fries in a single layer on a backing sheet covered with aluminum foil.

Drizzle with olive oils and sea salt, toss to coat evenly, then just bake for 15 minutes. Then toss and back for another ten minutes. Be patient; the less you touch the fries, the crispier they will be.

These would also be great done in the fryer!

Lay your fries out on paper towels to cool san degrease before filling your parchment cones. I made my cones using this super easy tutorial for a pastry bag. Some of them stayed together with just the fold, but I stapled some to be sure too.

Make & Serve in Paper Cones

For an easy serving alternative, prepare paper cones and stuff the fries inside for the perfect individual serving size for guests. This simple tutorial offers the basic instructions to create the cone shape and secure it - but just use plain white paper or parchment paper to make these.
