Tangy Mustard Marinade Recipe

Mustard and summertime go hand in hand, especially in France. This marinade recipe is like bottling up everything that is fabulous about the French menu and summertime goes beautifully on grilled chicken, or drizzled over a chicken salad.

So simple to make and delicious you may feel guilty enjoying it!


1 cup of olive oil

1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice

4 tablespoons of Dijon mustard

3 sprig of thyme

3 cloves of garlic

Salt and Pepper


In a mixing bowl, grate the garlic into a fine paste and then add the Olive Oil, Dijon Mustard and lemon juice. Mix your ingredients well before adding in the Thyme.

Allow the marinade/dressing to sit at room temperate for 30 minutes to ensure that the aromas of the Thyme are absorbed into the mix. 

Either use immediately after, or store in your refrigerator for up to 4 days in an airtight container before using. 

If you have leftover marinate that your meat hasn't come into contact with you can use it as a summer salad dressing.

We love Dijon in our kitchen, but if you prefer a less tangy bite, you can dilute it by adding in extra olive oil.
