The Perfect Manhattan

The Manhattan cocktail is considered an ‘American classic.’ Since the 1870’s whiskey lovers have ordered this elegant drink, often served with an orange peel or maraschino cherries.

If you want to honor the true spirit of the Prohibition era of the Roaring 1920’s, make your Manhattan with Canadian whiskey just like Americans of that time had to do.

Our bourbon of choice on this day, and all days is the perfection that is Four Roses. It’s smooth and balanced and the flavor still shines through even in a cocktail.  What makes this cocktail so special as well - is that we’re adding our very own homemade Maraschino cherries. They are easy to make and delightfully spiked.

  • 3/4 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • 2 1/2 oz Four Roses® Bourbon
  • Dash Angostura® bitters
  • 2 or 3 Ice cubes
  • 1 Maraschino Cherry
  • 1 twist of Orange peel

Pour 1 drop of bitters into each of 2 mason jars and swirl to coat the inside of the glass. Pour any remaining bitters from the glasses. Rub the orange peel over the rims of each mason jar and place inside the glass.

In a cocktail shaker, combine the whiskey, vermouth, and 6 cubes of ice. Shake well until mixed and chilled, about 30 seconds. Strain and divide the mixture between the 2 glasses. Garnish each glass with 2 boozy cherries , an orange peel, and serve.
