Treacle Tart Recipe

Treacle Tart is a British tradition, and a favorite any time of year. Served with cream, this sweet dessert is the perfect addition to a Harry Potter themed party. 

  • 1 ready made short crust piecrust
  • 9 tablespoons of golden syrup
  • 9 tablespoons of finely chopped breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger
  • Whipped Cream

Warm the syrup, and ginger over low heat, stirring until the mixture is thick and warm.  Squeeze the lemon juice into the mixture, stirring until blended.

Add the breadcrumbs to the mixture and stir until fully blended, and then pour into the pastry case and bake at 375F for 30 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.

Before serving, garnish with a heavy helping of whipped cream or ice cream.
