Velvety Vanilla Pear Cocktail

Sweeten up a sour autumn afternoon with this rich and velvety cocktail that reminds us of the sweeter parts of fall. While pears often play second fiddle to the apple in early autumn meals, the sweeter, syrupy fruit steals the show in this thick and juicy adult beverage, just as it will at your next cocktail party.


Equal parts dessert and refreshment, this nectar is just as effective as a follow up to a hearty autumn meal as it is a midday pick-me-up. Mild, but mending this cocktail is sure to soothe even the weariest of souls after a long day of work or play.

We're obsessed with the delicious pears from Harry & David, because they're always ripe and juicy and can conveniently be sent right to your doorstep.

Ingredients:

12 ounces pear nectar

1/2 vanilla bean, seeds scraped and reserved

6 ounces vodka

Sanding sugar for rim

Ice

Directions:

In a large cocktail shaker or pitcher combine pear juice and vodka. Scrape vanilla beans into juice mixture and stir well to distribute seeds throughout. Add ice and shake or stir until well combines. Pour cocktail into tumblers rimmed with sanding sugar.
