Bridesmaid Tips for the Bride: How to Choose & What to Expect

Choosing your bridesmaids and Maid of Honor isn't always as easy as it seems. Here are our favorite tips for selecting your bridal party and knowing what to expect.

If you’re a bride-to-be and haven’t seen the feature film comedy, “Bridesmaids,” see it with your BFFs immediately!

Not only is this a hilarious movie about what happens when a bride puts together a disparate crew of bridesmaids, but also what goes on when her best friend just isn’t qualified to be maid of honor and messes up all of her duties. (Speaking of duties, well…go see the movie!).

While vulgar and gross at times, this film also has heart – that’s what friendships and weddings should be about, after all. Because when it comes down to it, your bridal party should include the women you care about most, and who conversely, adore you.

Unfortunately, more often than not this isn’t the case. So while you may have planned on asking all of your college house mates to be your attendants, your family may have other ideas.

Cousins, future sisters-in-law or step-siblings might be thrust upon you for inclusion. And don’t be surprised if someone you barely know on your groom’s side is shoved into the mix, too.

You can, however, avoid these potentially ghastly scenarios. The secret is to remain cool, collected and rational. In addition, at all times you must focus on the big picture.
