How to Celebrate Baseball Opening Day

Take me out to the ball game... finally! Now that baseball season is officially here, it's time to sit back, relax, pop open a cold beer and get ready to watch America's Favorite Pastime.

Growing up in St. Louis, everyone worshiped at the church of the St. Louis Cardinals. Opening Day was (and still is) right up there with Christmas and the Fourth of July. Employees and students cash in a sick day, Ferris Bueller's Day Off style, and head to Busch Stadium or a downtown bar to watch the first game of the season. After a harsh winter, and a long 6+ months without baseball, Opening Day is always a warm welcome.

If you can't make it to a game, celebrate opening day anyway with these delicious recipes and fun decor ideas. Sometimes, popping your own popcorn and making your own baseball-themed desserts is better than buying them at the stadium.

For a delicious themed treat, try some of our favorite baseball cupcake recipes. These Baseball Field Cupcakes are so impressive, they look like a piece of the diamond was neatly placed on top of each little treat. If I had a field of dreams, it would be made of icing and chocolate cupcakes (if you bake it, they will come). Another tasty option are the Peanut Caramel Cupcakes, topped with one of the most iconic snacks in baseball.

To pay homage to another salty baseball favorite, make these homemade sunflower seeds. This Spicy Honey Roasted Sunflower Seed recipe is the perfect blend of spicy and sweet. Another salty-sweet option is our Homemade Cracker Jack recipe. Cheap toy, not included.

If you're really paying homage to the sport, make these delicious and adorable White Chocolate-Covered Oreo Baseballs. Chocolate-covered Oreos are already amazing, but the cute design of these make them a perfect snack to enjoy during the game. And finally, if you're really a hardcore baseball fan, this Baseball Tablescape is the perfect way to set the scene.

Take your party to the next level with baseball popcorn tins sporting your favorite team's logo. Now how's that for a home run!
