Throw a Mardi Gras Bash: DIY Carnival Celebration

Mardi Gras is a grand celebration of French tradition. While the biggest Mardi Gras event is no doubt in New Orleans, cities all over the country partake in the bead-tossing, hurricane-drinking, mask-wearing party.

But if you can't make it down to New Orleans -- or just want to throw a Mardi Gras party yourself -- we have some fabulous ideas to make sure you set up the cocktails, drinks and traditional flair in style. Make sure you incorporate the traditional Mardi Gras colors of purple, green and gold. And the celebration of Carnival in itself is flamboyant, so the more feathers and beads, the better.

Luckily, you can find inexpensive Mardi Gras decor at your local party supply store or dollar store. If you're interested in creating some fun and personalized DIY Mardi Gras decorations yourself, check out our DIY Mardi Gras Decor Ideas. With some gold spray paint, upcylced beads and a little creativity, you can really set the scene.

And since strands of Mardi Gras beads cost next to nothing, stock up on dozens of strands to place around as simple and pretty decor, and use as cheap party favors. You can also make some creative crafts with your leftover beads. We have some great ideas in our Pretty Projects Made with Mardi Gras Beads

Masks are another iconic piece of Mardi Gras decor. Sure, you can find the plain options at your local dollar or party supply store. But how much more fun would it be to jazz them up yourself? Our selection of Creative DIY Mardi Gras Masks are sure to get you inspired to create for your bash -- and it's a fun project to get the kids involved, too!

Like with any good party, cocktails are key. Luckily, Mardi Gras and New Orleans are home to so many delicious beverages, it's hard to narrow down which ones you want to indulge in on Fat Tuesday. We rounded up our favorite Mardi Gras Cocktails, including the traditional Hurricane, a Cajun Bloody Mary and King Cake Cocktail.

So send out your invitations, throw on some jazz music and get excitd to throw the biggest party of the year!
