Whimsical & Girlie Polka Dot-Themed Half-Birthday Party

Perhaps you’ve heard about the new recent trend - half-birthdays. The six-month milestone marking the birth of our little ones has becoming a special event worth celebrating. No need to go over the top – you can keep it light-hearted and meaningful by following these simple steps.

Select a theme: Give the party a whimsical vibe as a nod to an age where curiosity and imagination is constantly growing. A polka-dot theme is simple and approachable, and best of all is easy to infuse into many elements of the party. Send out polka-dot inspired invitations in advance to set the mood for guests!

Get clever with food and beverage: Serve appetizers and drinks with a round shape that seamlessly fit into the polka-dot motif. Use items such as large circular slices of salami, grapes or berries, or brownie bites that have been cut with a round cookie cutter.

Décor: Infuse your whimsical theme into as many elements of your party as you can… afterall, this is a party for a six month old so let yourself get creative! Even the simplest items such as spoons, plates and brightly colored tissue paper formed in a circle will add a punch of fun to the party.

DIY: Kids birthday parties aren’t complete without helium-filled balloons! They look festive and chic when adorned with felt polka dots in a limited color palate of three to four colors.

Let them eat (half) cake: No better time to let yourself get creative with desserts by creating a “half” cake. Guests will love the creative twist on a traditional dessert. And, try taking it one step further by adding a polka-dot inspired topper.

Before you know it you’ll be at the one-year birthday party so be sure to savor every moment of the six-month celebration!
