Best Fruity Cocktails For Your Summer Luau

Even after you've lit the tiki torches, strung up the grass fringe and laid out the colorful leis, there is a key element to your summer luau that you absolutely cannot forget: The cocktails!

Although luaus are parties that pay homage to Hawaiian culture, there are many other cocktails borrowed from other cultures that work well within the theme of a luau. As long as bright, tropical fruit is involved, it's definitely a must-serve at your summer bash!

It's hard to think of a luau without thinking of a Pina Colada. The sweet rum-based drink is the official cocktail of Puerto Rico, but with the flavors of pineapple and coconut, it's an iconic luau beverage. Serve with a giant pineapple wedge! For a tasty twist, make this Orange Creamsicle Pina Colada. It's made with coconut milk and orange sherbet, so it's a rich drink. But the thick, creamy texture is perfect for a cocktail or dessert!

The Mai Tai is a drink associated with Polynesian culture, and popularly served in tiki bars. The cocktail, which was made popular in the post-World War II era, is made with rum, lime juice, and almond liqueur, among other tasty ingredients.

Another bright and iconic drink is the Blue Hawaiian. If you've ever been on a tropical vacation, these are everywhere! It's made with a blend of vodka and rum, plus some blue curacao. Serve with a pineapple wedge for a nice tropical touch. And to really impress your guests, make these Blue Hawaiian Jell-O Shots. Serve them in lemon wedges for a drink display that everyone will love.

If punches are more your style (easier to serve a group!), then check out this delicious Peach and Raspberry Punch, made with peach vodka. Another great punch option is this Pirate Rum Punch. Both are packed with fruit, and will please all of your luau guests.

So get your grass skirts and drink umbrellas ready -- it's time to luau!
