Healthy Holiday Party Snacks for Kids

Holiday season = party season. And what’s not to love about a festive holiday party? From Christmas music to spiked apple cider, there are so many reasons to celebrate the holidays!

If you’re hosting this year and want a fantastic way to keep the kiddies entertained, we’ve got two simple (and edible) kids crafts that are really too cute to pass up. We suggest having a designated kid-friendly area with arts and crafts and of course these two DIY snack ideas.

Grinch Kabobs

Ingredients
  • Green Grapes
  • Bananas
  • Small Marshmallows
  • Toothpicks
  • Strawberries
  •
  •
Directions

Cut the stems and tops off of several strawberries. Slice bananas into 1/3 inch pieces. Slide a strawberry onto a toothpick leaving about 1/3 inch at the top. Slide a banana slice onto the toothpick. Then slide your grape (or the Grinch’s “face”) onto the toothpick. This should cover the bottom of the toothpick.

Lastly, place your small marshmallow on top to finish the “Santa hat.” Enjoy your Grinch kabobs!

Santa and His Reindeer

Ingredients
  • Toothpicks
  • Strawberries
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Dried cranberries
  • Pretzel Rods
  • Pretzel Sticks
  •
  •
Directions

Cut the bananas into even pieces about 1 and 1/2 inches long. Make sure that the bottoms are level so they can stand up easily. To make the reindeer, use both pretzel rods and pretzel sticks for varying sizes of ‘antlers.’ Place a pretzel on either side of the upright banana piece. Use a dried cranberry in the middle of the banana for a Rudolph nose. Use chocolate chips for the eyes.

To create the Santa snack, place a toothpick into the upright banana piece and slide in until it’s halfway covered. Slide a strawberry on top and add a mini marshmallow to complete the Santa hat. Use chocolate chips for the eyes.

These deliciously healthy snacks make for the perfect kids craft at a family holiday gathering or children’s sleepover. Enjoy these yummy munchies and happy holidays!
