The 'Crunchy Munchy' Hot Dog: Papaya King's Exclusive Recipe for Celebrations

It's not every day we get a recipe named after us. Especially not from such an iconic NYC restaurant. Luckily for us, our friends over at Papaya King created an exclusive hot dog just for Celebrations.com!

The dog, named The Crunchy Munchy, was developed by the Papaya King himself, Wayne Rosenbaum. He gave our own Brittany MacWright a hands-on tutorial of how to make the delicious dog, right in their own food truck.

It combines sweetness, saltiness and lots of crunch for an all-around delicious hot dog perfect for your outdoor BBQ. If you can't make it to one of Papaya King's New York City locations, have one of their dogs shipped to you and recreate the recipe at home with your own toppings. Your friends will think you're a culinary genius; or at least, a little obsessed with potato sticks.

  • Hot dogs, preferably Papaya King's 100% beef franks
  • Hot dog buns
  • Sweet pickles (bread and butter pickles)
  • Sauteed onions (grilled in olive oil, salt and papper)
  • Pickled jalapenos (mild, medium or hot)
  • Potato sticks, or crunched up potato chips

After your hot dogs are all grilled, place your hot dog in the bun. Start by layering the sweet pickles on the sides. Add sauteed onions right down the middle of the dog.

Add your pickled jalapenos in the middle of the dog, and top with your potato sticks. Make sure the toppings aren't too overloaded that you can't take a big bite!

Party Tip: Set up a hot dog topping station the next time you are grilling out so guests can make their own creations.
